Ex-Guantanamo Inmate Running ISIS Recruiting Camp In Afghanistan

According to local forces in Afghanistan, Mullah Abdul Rauf a former Guantanamo Bay prisoner, set up a base in Helmand province and is offering good wages to anyone willing to fight for the ISIS.

Isn't it nice that former prisoners can find new jobs? Rauf spent six years in Guantanamo Bay after being captured by US forces in 2001. He was released in 2007, sent back to Afghanistan, and since has made a career change. He used to be a Taliban commander from Helmand province, but has recently declared his allegiance to ISIS and is now reportedly running a recruitment cell for the radical group in Afghanistan.

The Taliban, meanwhile, have issued warnings to keep away from Mr. Rauf, AP reported.

“People are saying that he has raised black flags and even has tried to bring down white Taliban flags in some areas,” said Saifullah Sanginwal, a tribal leader in Sangin district, AP reported. “There are reports that 19 or 20 people have been killed” in fights between Taliban and Islamic State members, he said.

The rise of ISIS in Afghanistan under Mullah Abdul Rauf also has been confirmed by the head of the Afghan army unit responsible for the area.

Recently several Taliban leader were seen swearing their allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi in a video.

"A number of tribal leaders, jihadi commanders and some ulema (religious council members) and other people told me that Mullah Rauf had contacted them and invited them to join him," General Mahmood Khan, the deputy commander of the army's 215 Corps told CBS.

He said they were trying to win support for the ISIS cause, and were "preparing to fight".An offshoot of the Middle East's Islamic State insurgency has begun operating on southern Afghanistan, less than three months after British combat troops withdrew from the region.

Rauf was actively recruiting fighters for the groups, flying black flags and, according to some sources, even battling Taliban militants.

 Why does one freed Gitmo prisoner released by the Bush Administration matter? Because President Obama is rushing to release all of the Guantanamo prisoners so he can as fast as he can without any regard to what they may do once they are released. As Judicial Watch explained:

Rauf is one of a number of Gitmo terrorists who have returned to the fight after getting released, yet Obama continues freeing captives to keep his campaign promise of closing the prison. Just this week he let four Yemenis go, despite the risk that they will likely join Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, the Yemen-based terror group that claimed responsibility for last week’s attack in France. In fact, dozens of freed Gitmo detainees have rejoined Al Qaeda in Yemen, the country where the 2009 Christmas Day airline bomber proudly trained. In 2010 Judicial Watch reported that a number of high-ranking Al Qaeda militants in Yemen—once held at Gitmo—may have been involved in a sophisticated scheme to send bombs on a U.S.-bound cargo plan.

There is no logic to Obama's decision to close Gitmo. Beyond the fact that like Mullah Abdul Rauf many of the released prisoners go right back to the front lines, Obama says the prison insults Muslims. On the other hand the prison was built to hold terrorists. But Obama says the terrorists are not Islamic.  So if the prison was built to hold terrorists who are not Islamic, why then would the Muslims be insulted or care in any way.
